By Christina Hanna, MPH, CHES • Last Updated 06/09/2025

This year, Let’s Talk Menopause brought their annual Menoposium to Dallas, Texas, and it was another fantastic event packed with insights from some of the top menopause experts. The team at Versalie was thrilled to sponsor the event for the second year in a row and even more excited to join in virtually, learning alongside all the participants.

The Menoposium is a unique gathering that brings together a diverse group of experts, healthcare providers, and females from all walks of life to delve into the complex journey of menopause and perimenopause. From expert panels to interactive Q&A sessions, the event covers everything from the basics of perimenopause to advanced treatments for genitourinary symptoms. The depth of discussion and the wealth of insights truly enriched the ongoing conversation around menopause and female health.

Key panels and topics at the 2025 Menoposium

Similar to last year, the event featured 4 panels, each exploring crucial menopause topics:

  • Tamsen Fadal kicked things off with a Menopause 101 session, joined by Dr. Cheryl Kinney, Dr. Robin Noble, and Dr. Vanessa Soviero. They made sure everyone was on the same page with the terminology, helping us understand and communicate our experiences more effectively.
  • Dr. Mary Claire Haver and Dr. Sharon Malone then took us through the history of menopause hormone therapy, discussing the current benefits and risks. They emphasized that menopause care is highly individualized, and what works for one person might not work for another.
  • Next, Tamsen Fadal, Dr. Shelby Harris, and Dr. Judith Joseph tackled the often under-discussed topic of mental health and menopause. They explored how trouble sleeping and anxious worry can keep us up at 2 AM and offered practical solutions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can be effective in managing these symptoms.
  • The final panel, hosted by Gabriella Espinosa, focused on the often ignored vaginal, sexual, and urinary symptoms of menopause. Dr. Kelly Casperson, Dr. Jessica Shepherd, and Dr. Maria Sophocles provided valuable insights into treatments like hormone therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and the use of moisturizers and lubricants to improve quality of life and prevent long-term issues.

Here are the 7 key insights we gathered from the 2025 Let’s Talk Menopause Menoposium:

  1. Menopause is a personal journey. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for menopause symptoms. What you’re experiencing is unique to you, influenced by your environment, beliefs, and feelings. Individualized care is crucial to managing menopause effectively.
  2. Menopause care is essential and flexible. Whether you choose lifestyle changes like diet and exercise or medical interventions like hormone therapy, there are multiple options to help you navigate this transition. You’re not alone, and there are effective ways to make it smoother.
  3. A holistic approach works best. Combining lifestyle changes, mental health support, and medical treatments can ensure a more comfortable and manageable menopause journey. This approach recognizes the multifaceted nature of menopause and the need for personalized care. What works for your friend might not work for you, and that’s okay.
  4. Vaginal estrogen is a game-changer. Local vaginal estrogen is specifically designed to address genitourinary symptoms like vaginal dryness and discomfort. It can be applied as a cream, pill, or vaginal insert, improving quality of life and may reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  5. Mental health during menopause matters. Menopause can bring a range of mental health challenges, including irritability, mood swings, increased worry or anxiety, and low energy. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be an effective tool that clinicians may use to help with these symptoms by working on changing perceptions and behaviors.
  6. Don’t overlook genitourinary symptoms of menopause. Vaginal and vulvar dryness, discomfort, and pain, as well as issues with sexual activity and urination, are common and can persist postmenopause if untreated. There are various treatments available, including hormone therapy, pelvic floor therapy, sex therapy, and products like moisturizers and lubricants to help with the range of genitourinary menopause symptoms.
  7. Don’t let a dismissive provider discourage you. Advocate for yourself and schedule a menopause-specific appointment. Not all healthcare providers receive menopause training. If you’re being dismissed or not given options, it’s okay to find a different doctor who will listen and support you.

The 2025 Let’s Talk Menopause Menoposium was a wonderful and informative event that highlighted the importance of personalized and holistic care for menopause. It emphasized the need to address both physical and mental health aspects and provided practical solutions and insights to help people navigate this significant life transition with confidence and support.
